Lauten Audio Snare and Tom Mics, Tested and Compared at ZenPro
Posted by Warren Dent, Owner of ZenPro Audio on Oct 24, 2024
First of all I just want to say it's nice to be back recording microphones again after a very long delay! We moved the business in July but the room was disassembled for many months prior as we finalized the new space.
We have compared the Lauten Audio Snare Mic to the Shure SM57, as well as the Lauten Audio Tom Mic to the Sennheiser MD 421 II Kompakt, so you can hear them up against industry standard sounds. The result? A very different sounding experience for sure! These are raw files so no EQ or processing has been applied, you hear the microphones only. You'll notice differences in tone and especially in off axis bleed for sure. We also used every filter setting on the Lauten drum mics so you can hear the shift each one delivers.
Hear the tests now in the microphone folder located in our Clipalator media player.
The drums were a Ludwig Supraphonic 14x5 and an Arbiter maple kit, with all Zildjian A cymbals.
